Jeep has announced the 2026 Wrangler and Gladiator Rewind, the latest additions to its lineup of twelve “buzz models” designed to generate excitement and offset recent pricing adjustments. These special editions are appearance packages that draw inspiration from exterior graphics popular during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The Rewind models are based on the Willys trim, positioned between the Sport and Rubicon trims. Customers can choose between the Wrangler or Gladiator, both featuring an extensive graphics package reminiscent of the “mixtape and roller skate era.”
Exterior upgrades include:
- Off-road tires
- Steel rock rails
- Gold-trimmed wheels
- Gold-trimmed tow hooks
- Period-specific paint combinations: Bright White, Granite Crystal, Anvil, Gloss Black, Hydro Blue, Joose, Earl (Wrangler-only), and Reign
Inside, the Rewind models feature Nappa Leather seats with embossed patterns designed to evoke the “8-bit era.” While stylish, these seats do not match the bold design of the original 2025 Easter Jeep Safari Rewind concept. Other interior features include a unique shift knob cap, heated front seats, and standard Willys trim components such as floor mats and limited-edition badging.
Mechanical enhancements include:
- Locking rear differential
- Off-Road+ driving mode
- Trailer hitch
- Programmable auxiliary switches
- Adaptive cruise control with frontal collision warning
“Jeep owners have always had a deep emotional connection to their off-road vehicles, and the Jeep Rewind taps directly into that sense of freedom and first car nostalgia.”
— Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf
Broderdorf added, “Easter Jeep Safari has long served as our real-world test bed for future Jeep capability and design, giving us immediate, unfiltered feedback from the most passionate enthusiasts in our community. When we saw how strongly fans responded to the concept vehicle at last year’s Easter Jeep Safari, we knew we had to bring it to life. The Wrangler and Gladiator Rewind special editions are the perfect example of how we’re celebrating our heritage while delivering fresh, unexpected ideas that resonate with our community.”
The 2026 Wrangler and Gladiator Rewind join the Jeep XJ Pioneer, a restomodded 1984 Cherokee unveiled at this year’s Easter Jeep Safari. The XJ Pioneer retained its original charm while enhancing off-road capabilities, reflecting the growing trend of retro-inspired vehicles.
Retro-futurism in automotive design gained popularity in the early 2000s, particularly as a strategy to appeal to baby boomers. Automakers embraced this trend to create visually appealing vehicles that catered to a wealthy demographic. While retro-futurism remains popular, the industry’s focus has shifted from space-age or muscle-car aesthetics to a broader appreciation of classic designs.
