The New York Jets are set to bolster their wide receiver corps with the addition of veteran Tim Patrick. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, the Jets and Patrick have agreed to terms on a contract.
Patrick visited the team on Wednesday to finalize the agreement. Last season, he played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, recording 15 receptions for 187 yards and three touchdowns.
Patrick’s NFL journey includes six seasons with the Denver Broncos, where he amassed 143 catches, 2,009 yards, and 12 touchdowns. However, injuries significantly impacted his tenure—he missed the entire 2022 and 2023 seasons due to a torn ACL and torn Achilles. He also spent the 2024 season with the Detroit Lions, contributing 33 receptions, 394 yards, and three touchdowns.
The Jets’ receiving group now includes a mix of rookie and veteran talent: Garrett Wilson, Adonai Mitchell, Isaiah Williams, Arian Smith, Irv Charles, Omar Cooper, and Tim Patrick.
This signing holds particular significance for the Jets’ front office and coaching staff. Darren Mougey, the team’s general manager, previously worked for the Broncos during Patrick’s tenure. Meanwhile, Aaron Glenn, the Jets’ head coach, served as the Lions’ defensive coordinator in 2024 when Patrick played in Detroit.
