Jim Furyk is assembling his leadership team for the 2027 Ryder Cup. During a May 2, 2026 interview with Mike Tirico on NBC ahead of the Kentucky Derby, Furyk announced that Stewart Cink and Justin Leonard would serve as his vice captains at Adare Manor.
The trio will lead the United States in the 2027 Ryder Cup, as confirmed by NBC Sports on social media:
"Jim Furyk, Stewart Cink and Justin Leonard will lead the United States in the 2027 Ryder Cup! 🏆"
This marks Furyk’s second stint as U.S. Ryder Cup Captain, bringing experience to the role. The Ryder Cup is an NBC property for U.S. broadcast television, adding significance to the announcement.
Why Cink and Leonard Are Key Picks
Stewart Cink and Justin Leonard are among the most qualified figures to join Furyk’s leadership team. Their experience and expertise will be critical as Team USA prepares to face Europe, led by Captain Luke Donald, in a tournament Europe has won in back-to-back editions.
The pressure is on, but steady leadership at the top may help calm the nerves. Congratulations to Stewart Cink and Justin Leonard on their appointments.
