Colts wide receiver Josh Downs is counting down the days until the 2026 NFL schedule is released later this month. Among the games he’s most excited to see is the Colts vs. Cowboys matchup, which could feature a rare brotherly head-to-head showdown.

Safety Caleb Downs, selected 11th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, has already provided early insights into his potential role with the Cowboys. Josh Downs shared Caleb’s plans via The Athletic’s James Boyd:

“He told me if he goes to the Cowboys, he’s playing nickel. So, that’s like head-to-head all game. I was like, ‘that’s interesting.’ So then he got drafted, I was like ‘you know we play next year’ and he got all hyped.”

Josh Downs added with a playful tone, “It’s all fun and games, but you know I gotta let him know he’s the little brother in the situation.”

The NFL’s 2026 schedule will determine the exact date of the potential Downs brothers’ matchup. While the Cowboys are scheduled to face the Ravens in Week 3 and Week 18 is reserved for divisional games, their potential clash with the Colts could occur at any point during the regular season.
