Kia has introduced a significant second facelift for the XCeed crossover, marking a major update to the model. The refreshed XCeed now features a 12.3-inch digital cockpit and EV-inspired LED lighting, bringing it in line with Kia’s latest design and technology standards.
Production of the updated XCeed is set to begin on May 29 at the Zilina plant in Slovakia. The model will be available with gasoline and mild-hybrid powertrains, though the plug-in hybrid option is not expected to return. Additionally, the facelift includes improvements to ride comfort, likely due to a revised suspension setup.
The XCeed originally joined the Ceed family in 2019 as a high-riding alternative to traditional hatchbacks, bridging the gap between the Stonic and the Sportage SUVs. Its first facelift in mid-2022 introduced mild styling updates and more electrified powertrain options. Despite the discontinuation of the Ceed Hatchback, Sportwagon, and Proceed in favor of the new K4, the XCeed remains a key part of Kia’s lineup.
Design Updates: EV-Inspired Styling
The refreshed XCeed adopts Kia’s latest styling language, drawing inspiration from the brand’s electric vehicles. Key changes include:
- A redesigned front fascia featuring vertical LED headlights and a slimmer tiger-nose grille.
- A larger bumper intake with aluminum-style inserts for a more rugged appearance.
- Full-width LED taillights and a sculpted tailgate at the rear.
- A more rugged rear bumper with an integrated skid plate.
- Updated alloy wheels and at least one new exterior color option.
The greenhouse and sheet metal on the profile remain largely unchanged, maintaining the XCeed’s distinctive crossover silhouette.
Interior Enhancements: Modern Digital Cockpit
The interior of the XCeed has been significantly overhauled to address aging design elements. Notable updates include:
- A modern digital cockpit with dual 12.3-inch displays, borrowed from the rest of Kia’s lineup.
- Revised physical controls and simplified climate vents for improved usability.
- A new two-spoke steering wheel and a more stylish center console.
- White seat upholstery with an intricate pattern, complemented by matching inserts on the steering wheel and door cards.
Production and Market Availability
Production of the updated Kia XCeed will commence at the Zilina plant in Slovakia on May 29. The plant also produces the Sportage, EV2, and EV4 models. European sales are expected to begin in the coming weeks.
Interestingly, the facelifted XCeed will coexist with the newly arrived Kia Seltos in Europe, offering customers a broader range of crossover options.
Competitive Landscape
While the Ford Focus Active has been discontinued, Kia is committed to the XCeed, introducing another update for 2026. The refreshed model competes in a segment where design and technology play increasingly important roles. Visually, the XCeed aligns more closely with the EV3 and the recently facelifted Stonic than the aggressive styling of the K4.
