Louisville wide receiver Chris Bell suffered a torn ACL during the Cardinals' 38-6 loss to SMU on November 22. The surgery was performed by Dr. Dan Cooper, the Cowboys' team physician, in Dallas shortly after the injury.
Bell is targeting a return for the start of the NFL season. NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport reports that the wideout is progressing faster than expected in his rehabilitation, running at speeds exceeding 18 mph.
Before the injury, Bell was considered a potential first-round draft pick. He is now projected to be selected in the second round. A former teammate of New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough, Bell has expressed hopes of reuniting with Shough in the NFL.
In his final college season, Bell recorded 72 receptions for 917 yards and six touchdowns. Over his four-year college career, he amassed 151 receptions, 2,166 yards, and 12 touchdowns.
