The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, set to open in Los Angeles on September 22, 2026, is celebrating May the Fourth by unveiling details about its inaugural cinema exhibition, “Star Wars in Motion.”

A teaser for the exhibition is now available, offering a glimpse into the immersive experience visitors can expect.

Exhibition Highlights: Iconic Star Wars Vehicles and Props

According to the official release, “Star Wars in Motion” will transport visitors to a galaxy far, far away through a curated selection of visionary vehicle designs, props, costumes, and illustrations from the first six Star Wars films. The exhibition features:

  • High-speed racers
  • Hulking transport vehicles
  • Flying vessels
  • Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope
  • The first physical build of General Grievous’ Wheel Bike from Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith

The exhibition will dazzle audiences with the possibilities of propulsive motion on distant and exotic worlds.

Lucas Museum’s Founding Collection and Inaugural Exhibitions

The cinema exhibition is one of more than 30 installations that will open with the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. Drawn from the museum’s founding collection—with some pieces borrowed from George Lucas’ personal archive—the exhibitions trace the evolution of human culture through visual storytelling. This includes:

  • Ancient sculptures of gods and goddesses
  • Renaissance paintings
  • Photographs, comics, and modern cinema

Additional Inaugural Exhibitions Include:

  • Architecture: Explores the designs that inspired the museum’s UFO-like architectural vision.
  • Thomas Hart Benton: A selection of works depicting American life by the renowned artist.
  • Comics Showcase: Features deep holdings of American and European comics, including works by Mœbius, Marie Severin, Jack Kirby, Alison Bechdel, Jim Lee, Frank Miller, and Rafael Navarro.
  • Jessie Willcox Smith: A showcase of the illustrator’s work.
  • Frank Frazetta: Selected illustrations from the legendary artist.
  • Norman Rockwell: A collection of paintings by the iconic American illustrator.
