Marvel Television’s next Special Presentation is here—and it’s set to deliver the brutal action fans expect from The Punisher.

Premiering on Tuesday, May 12 at 6 p.m. PT on Disney+, ‘The Punisher: One Last Kill’ returns fans to the life and mind of Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), aka The Punisher. The special follows Castle after his escape from one of Kingpin’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) cages in Daredevil: Born Again.

Bernthal not only stars in the special but also co-wrote it with Reinaldo Marcus Green. This marks the second streaming special co-written by Bernthal in as many weeks, following the surprise prequel episode of The Bear on Hulu last week.

“I never thought I would find something that moves me, and that I get so much joy out of, the way that acting did when I first started. And, yeah, for the last few years, writing has really done that for me, and I love it.”

— Jon Bernthal, to TheWrap

What You Need to Know About ‘The Punisher: One Last Kill’

Release Time and Date

Following the official schedule for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, ‘The Punisher: One Last Kill’ will be available on Disney+ at 6 p.m. PT on May 12.

Timeline: When Does the Special Take Place?

Contrary to some assumptions, the special does not occur after the events of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Instead, it bridges the gap between The Punisher series and Born Again Season 2.

“I think this tells the story of what happened next after Punisher and before and during the events of [Born Again] Season 2.”

— Dario Scardapane, showrunner of Daredevil: Born Again, to Variety

Plot Summary (No Spoilers)

The official synopsis reveals: “As Frank Castle searches for meaning beyond revenge, an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight.”

Does It Set Up ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’?

Given Jon Bernthal’s return as Frank Castle in the upcoming Spider-Man film, speculation has arisen about a connection. However, Marvel’s previous television specials have largely been standalone stories, suggesting ‘One Last Kill’ may follow the same format.

Until the special premieres, the full extent of its ties to the MCU remains unknown.
