Valve’s Steam Controller officially goes on sale on Monday, November 11, 2019 for $99. Accessories manufacturer Mechanism will launch its Basegrip accessory the same day, offering the first solution to physically attach the Steam Controller to a smartphone or other surfaces.

The Basegrip is designed to work with Mechanism’s phone mount, enabling users to remote-control their PC using the Steam Controller as a gamepad. Mechanism claims this setup transforms the controller into a versatile input device for gaming and productivity.

Beyond phone mounting, the Basegrip is compatible with Mechanism’s lineup of accessories, including hanging mounts for handhelds and gamepads. These mounts can be attached to IKEA Skadis pegboards or virtually any other surface, providing flexible placement options for gaming setups.

Valve granted Mechanism early access to the Steam Controller’s design, allowing the accessory maker to release the Basegrip and its mounting solutions simultaneously with the controller’s launch. This collaboration ensures compatibility and immediate availability for early adopters.
