Even astronauts need periodic technology upgrades—and the crew of Expedition 74 aboard the International Space Station (ISS) is no exception. NASA recently announced that the station is undergoing a comprehensive computer upgrade to enhance operational efficiency and computational power.

In a statement to The Verge, NASA spokesperson Joshua Finch confirmed the selection of the new laptops for the ISS crew. He stated,

"The International Space Station Program has selected the HP ZBook G9 Mobile Workstation as the next laptop for the space station."

According to HP, the custom ZBook Fury G9 model designed for the ISS includes the following high-performance components:

  • Processor: Intel Core Ultra 9 vPro HX
  • Graphics: Nvidia RTX Pro Blackwell GPU

  • Storage: Four 2TB NVMe SSDs

The upgraded configuration is tailored to meet the demanding requirements of space-based research, data processing, and mission-critical tasks aboard the orbiting laboratory.
