Neon has acquired the North American distribution rights to filmmaker James Gray’s upcoming drama ‘Paper Tiger’, starring Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver, and Miles Teller, a company representative confirmed to TheWrap.
The film, shot during summer 2024, centers on two brothers—played by Driver and Teller—who pursue the American dream but find themselves drawn into a dangerous scheme involving the Russian ‘Mafiya’, according to the official synopsis.

Neon is riding high following a banner 2025, which included the release of Oscar-nominated critical favorites:

This year also saw Neon release the video game adaptation ‘Exit 8’ and Steven Soderbergh’s ‘The Christophers’. Upcoming titles include the horror film ‘Hokum’, directed by Adam Scott, and Boots Riley’s ‘I Love Boosters’, slated for May.
James Gray’s Partnership with Neon
‘Paper Tiger’ marks Gray’s first collaboration with Neon after Focus Features distributed his 2022 film ‘Armageddon Time’. Previously, Gray directed the 2019 Brad Pitt sci-fi film ‘Ad Astra’ for 20th Century Fox.
