Netflix is rolling out a significant update to its mobile app, introducing a new vertical video feed named Clips. This feature allows users to scroll through short clips of shows, movies, and other Netflix content in a mobile-friendly format.

The company first tested the vertical video feed last year, citing the popularity of swiping through vertical feeds on social media apps as a key inspiration. Netflix stated at the time,

"We know that swiping through a vertical feed on social media apps is an easy way to browse video content."

The new mobile user interface (UI) will begin rolling out on Thursday, May 9, 2024 in the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • India
  • Malaysia
  • Pakistan
  • Philippines
  • South Africa

Additional regions are expected to receive the update in the coming weeks. The Clips feed is designed to help users discover new content more efficiently while browsing on their mobile devices.
