The New Orleans Saints made room for rookie additions on Monday by waiving three veteran players, including running back Evan Hull and wide receiver Elijah Cooks.

In addition to the previously announced release of wide receiver Samori Toure, the Saints confirmed the waivers of Hull and Cooks. The move allows the team to prioritize younger talent following the NFL Draft.

Evan Hull’s 2024 Season in Review

Hull, who ran for 48 yards on 19 carries and caught one pass for six yards in six games last season, has been waived by the Saints. His departure leaves the team with a deep backfield that now includes Travis Etienne, Alvin Kamara, Ty Chandler, Devin Neal, Kendre Miller, Audric Estime, and CJ Donaldson.

Elijah Cooks’ Brief NFL Stint

Cooks, who spent part of the 2024 season on the Saints’ practice squad, had limited NFL experience. He recorded three receptions for 38 yards across 11 games with the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

The Saints recently bolstered their receiving corps by drafting Jordyn Tyson in the first round and adding Bryce Lance and Barion Brown later in the draft. These moves reflect the team’s strategy to integrate young talent while managing roster depth.
