Hyundai has unveiled the 2027 Grandeur facelift in South Korea, delivering a refreshed flagship sedan with a cleaner exterior and a thoroughly reworked interior. The first images reveal modest exterior revisions paired with a significantly upgraded cabin, positioning the Grandeur as Korea’s best-selling sedan and the country’s second-best-selling vehicle of any kind, trailing only the Sorento SUV.
The Grandeur, marketed in the U.S. and Canada as the Azera until Hyundai exited the segment, entered its seventh generation in November 2022. Hyundai deemed the model due for a meaningful update, focusing on both aesthetics and technology.
Exterior Updates: A Cleaner ‘Shark Nose’ Design
The most striking visual change is the new “Shark Nose” front fascia, which replaces the previous design with a cleaner, more cohesive look. Key updates include:
- A slimmed-down full-width LED light bar
- Smaller main headlights
- Consolidated grille and air intakes into a single unit with chrome detailing
The profile remains largely unchanged, but Hyundai introduces new alloy wheel options and a fresh Artistic Burgundy paint finish available in glossy or matte.
The rear end also receives subtle refinements, including:
- Turn signals now integrated into the full-width LED bar, previously located on the rear bumper
- Slimmer black trim on the bumper
- New chrome accents around the diffuser
The overall footprint increases slightly, with the Grandeur now measuring 5,050 mm (198.8 inches) in length—15 mm (0.6 inches) longer than its predecessor.
Interior Overhaul: Genesis-Level Premium Features
The cabin transformation is the centerpiece of the update. Hyundai replaces the previous 12.3-inch infotainment display and 10.25-inch climate panel with a single 17-inch touchscreen, running the new Pleos Connect software based on Android. A slimmer digital instrument cluster is positioned further back on the dashboard.
The center console retains physical buttons for key functions, but Hyundai introduces electric climate vents, with air volume and direction controlled via the touchscreen. This design choice hides the vents from view on the redesigned dashboard, enhancing the clean aesthetic.
Additional premium features include:
- A “Smart Vision Roof” that switches between opaque and transparent
- Quilted upholstery and a “couch pattern” on the door panels
- Wood inserts and metal accents
- Indirect lighting for a cozy, upscale atmosphere
Powertrain Expectations: Continuity with Predecessor
Hyundai has not disclosed specific powertrain details for the facelifted Grandeur. However, the updated model is expected to mirror the lineup of its predecessor, which includes:
- A naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter GDi engine
- A 1.6-liter Turbo Hybrid
- A flagship 3.5-liter V6, available in gasoline and LPG variants
The 3.5-liter V6 can also be paired with all-wheel drive (AWD).
South Korean buyers can expect to see the updated Grandeur in dealerships within the coming months. The current model’s pricing and availability details have not yet been announced.
