Players of NTE: Neverness to Everness discovered generative artificial intelligence (genAI) usage in the game’s visuals and graphics shortly after its launch. In response, Hotta Studio and Perfect World Games issued a statement on social media acknowledging the use of AI in the game’s development.

The statement did not include an apology for relying on AI-generated artwork. Instead, it referred to player criticisms as feedback and claimed that AI was used exclusively for creating background and environmental assets.

The developers also announced they are reviewing and reworking two specific video examples flagged by players: “Clear Skies in Summer” and “Pink Paws Heist”. However, it remains unclear whether these assets will be entirely remade by human artists.

Dear Appraisers,
Thank you for the feedback. It matters to us.

Neverness to Everness is built on human creativity. The characters, stories, and world you experience are the work of artists, writers, and designers. AI-assisted tools were used only on a small number of background and environmental assets, not on the characters or stories that define this game.

We’re already reviewing and reworking the flagged assets: “Clear Skies in Summer” and “Pink Paws Heist”.

Your feedback shapes this game, so please keep it coming. We’re listening, and we’re committed to delivering the quality you deserve.

Sincerely,
The NTE Team”

One example of an AI-generated asset in NTE: Neverness to Everness was shared by social media user Hourly Nicole on May 3, 2026. The clip highlighted what appeared to be obvious genAI usage in the game’s visuals.

Following the discovery, Vtuber Ironmouse revealed that Hotta Studio and Perfect World Games had previously assured her that the game contained no generative AI. She subsequently pledged to avoid playing games that use AI in their development.

Meggie-Elise, a voice actress who contributed to NTE: Neverness to Everness, also criticized the companies behind the game. She expressed dissatisfaction with the situation and stated she would leave the game if the offending AI-generated art was not addressed and removed.

NTE: Neverness to Everness is available on PS5, PC, Android, and iOS.
