Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang delivered a powerful message to graduates at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh on May 17, 2025, emphasizing that the surging demand for AI infrastructure is unlocking a "once-in-a-generation opportunity to reindustrialize America and restore the nation's capacity to build."

Addressing fears among college graduates that AI could eliminate career opportunities, Huang framed the moment as a historic turning point:

"A new industry is being born. A new era of science and discovery is beginning ... I cannot imagine a more exciting time to begin your life's work."

Nvidia, the world’s most valuable company and a leader in AI chip manufacturing, employs over 30,000 people globally. Huang spoke to 5,800 graduates receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees, highlighting the vast workforce needs emerging from the AI buildout.

He stressed that the expansion of AI infrastructure—including chip factories, data centers, and advanced manufacturing facilities—will require diverse skilled labor: plumbers, electricians, ironworkers, and builders. "No generation has entered the world with more powerful tools — or greater opportunities — than you," Huang said. "We are all standing at the same starting line. This is your moment to help shape what comes next. So run. Don't walk."

Huang also addressed historical skepticism toward technological revolutions, noting:

"Every major technological revolution in history created fear alongside opportunity. When society engages technology openly, responsibly, and optimistically, we expand human potential far more than we diminish it."
