New England Patriots seventh-round linebacker Quintayvious Hutchins has been charged with misdemeanor assault and battery after an incident in a Boston College dorm on Tuesday night, according to a police report obtained by WBZ.

Officers responded to a dormitory following reports of an argument between a man and a woman. A witness alleged that Hutchins grabbed the woman’s neck during the altercation, and that both individuals were pushing each other. The police report states that the woman declined to have pictures of her neck taken and stated she was "OK" in her own account.

The Patriots issued a statement on Wednesday, acknowledging the report involving Hutchins. "We are aware of the report involving Quintayvious Hutchins," the team said. "We take these matters very seriously and are in the process of gathering additional information. We will not have further comment at this time."

Hutchins, who previously played for Boston College, was arraigned on Wednesday morning. He pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance.
