President Donald Trump, 79, was caught on camera appearing to fall asleep during a White House event on Monday, May 11, 2026. The incident occurred just seconds after he spoke at a press conference announcing the launch of the moms.gov website, a new initiative by the Trump administration aimed at encouraging American women to have more children.

The event, held at the White House, included several high-profile attendees: Dr. Mehmet Oz, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; Senator Katie Britt (R-AL); Olivia Walton, philanthropist and maternal health advocate; and Dr. Dorothy Fink, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health.

Footage shared by journalist Aaron Rupar on social media showed Trump with his eyes fully closed multiple times while others spoke. The video, posted at 11:00 a.m., captured the president’s first public event of the day.

"It’s becoming a regular occurrence for the president to take a little nap during an event, with the most recent instance being just last week."

This is not the first time Trump has been observed dozing off during official events. Earlier in May 2026, similar incidents were reported, including one where he appeared to fall asleep in the Oval Office.

"This isn’t some late-night Situation Room meeting or some three-hour Cabinet meeting. This is the president’s first scheduled event of the day. Even if he’s not completely asleep, he certainly is not fully present. Capable presidents don’t fall asleep at 11:30 a.m."

The repeated instances of Trump appearing to sleep during public events have raised questions about his stamina and focus during official duties.
