Prime Video has called on fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty to respect set privacy after unauthorized videos from the upcoming movie finale began circulating online.
Production for the film spinoff of the popular Prime Video YA series recently resumed, and fan-recorded clips from the set have sparked speculation about the plot of Belly and the Fishers’ final chapter. A viral video shared on social media shows Belly (Lola Tung) and Conrad (Christopher Briney) embracing on a beach in Cousins, the fictional setting of the series.
On Tuesday, the official @thesummeritp X account posted a statement addressing the issue:
"We love the excitement, but sharing locations and visiting set disrupts filming and creates real safety concerns for our cast and crew. We’re working hard to create a protected bubble to make the best movie possible. Please help us protect the magic of Cousins until it’s ready to be shared."
The post also included an image with the words "Privacy Please" written in the sand, reinforcing Prime Video’s request for fans to refrain from interfering with production.
Prime Video’s History of Addressing Fan Behavior
This is not the first time the streamer has addressed concerns over fan conduct. Days before the premiere of Season 3 last summer, Prime Video warned fans against "hate speech or bullying" targeting the cast and crew. The official account shared a list of community guidelines, stating:
- Zero tolerance policy for bullying and hate speech.
- Bans for targeting cast or crew, harassing, or doxxing community members.
The third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty drew 70 million viewers within 70 days of its July 2025 release, underscoring the show’s massive fanbase.
Behind the Scenes: The Movie Finale’s Development
Jenny Han, creator and author of the book trilogy, revealed in a December 2025 interview with TheWrap that she had always envisioned the story ending with a movie. Han, who made her directorial debut with an episode in Season 3, will also direct the film. She is co-writing the screenplay with Sarah Kucserka.
"It was my vision for quite some time, but now all the pieces have kind of come together," Han said. "The series was all building towards Belly and Conrad’s reunion, and I just didn’t want to take away from that."
