Parking Garage Rally Circuit Expands with European Tour DLC
Parking Garage Rally Circuit (PGRC), the indie racing game that channels the spirit of 1990s arcade classics, has received a major update with the European Tour DLC. The expansion doubles the number of playable tracks from eight to 16 and introduces new music from ska-punk band The Holophonics.
Originally released in 2024, PGRC has evolved significantly since its launch. At the time of its initial reveal, the game featured only half the tracks it now offers, lacked multiplayer functionality, and had no soundtrack. Today, it stands as a polished and engaging experience for racing fans.
New Tracks and Features in the European Tour DLC
The DLC introduces eight brand-new tracks set in iconic European parking garages, including:
- York Castle Car Park (York, UK)
- Hamburg Concert Hall (Hamburg, Germany)
- Fiat Lingotto Facility (Turin, Italy) – featuring the game’s most recognizable track, inspired by the Fiat factory’s historic roof test track with its banked curves.
Adam Ismail of Walaber Entertainment highlights the game’s charm and creativity:
"Ever wanted to tour the parking facilities of Europe? Now you can!"
Gameplay Mechanics: Drift Boosting and Skill-Based Racing
PGRC’s handling closely resembles that of Mario Kart, offering linear tracks with the added twist of a drift button. Players can chain drift boosts to dramatically increase their vehicle’s speed beyond normal limits.
For example, the light-class Tatsugi Zippi has a base top speed of just 34 mph. However, by maintaining drift boosts, players can exceed this limit—potentially doubling or tripling the car’s speed. This creates a skill-based environment where reflexes and precision determine success.
High-level players often remain in drift mode even on straightaways to maximize speed, much like expert players of Mario Kart DS did in the past. This mechanic ensures there is no true skill ceiling in PGRC; performance is limited only by the player’s abilities.
Multiplayer and Customization Options
While single-player mode allows players to race without bots, the online multiplayer feature enables head-to-head competition with friends. Players can toggle car contact on or off, adding flexibility to the racing experience.
Is PGRC Right for You?
PGRC’s drift-boosting mechanics may not appeal to everyone. Players who prefer traditional racing, where drifting is reserved for corners, might find the gameplay frustrating. The game’s high difficulty in single-player mode—especially for newcomers—can also be a barrier.
However, for fans of arcade-style racing and those willing to embrace its unique mechanics, PGRC offers a fresh and rewarding experience. The European Tour DLC makes now an ideal time to dive in, with more tracks, new music, and expanded multiplayer options.
