The New Orleans Saints are taking a cautious approach with rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson after his injury history resurfaced during rookie minicamp on Saturday.
Tyson, selected by the Saints with the eighth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, did not participate in practice. Head coach Kellen Moore emphasized that the decision was part of a structured plan rather than a reaction to a new injury.
“Jordyn had a number of things that came up last year during the season,” Moore said at a post-practice press conference. “So we got him in our system now and let’s start building this thing the right way.”
The Saints’ coaching staff appears to be prioritizing Tyson’s long-term health, as Moore noted that rookies “were in and out of different activities” during the previous spring. This suggests that Tyson’s workload will continue to be carefully managed in an effort to prevent further injuries.
Tyson’s durability was a concern leading into the draft after multiple injuries at Arizona State, including several games missed last season due to hamstring issues. The Saints, however, selected him based on his talent and potential, trusting that a structured approach would mitigate injury risks.
