Nintendo surprised fans by announcing Splatoon Raiders for the Switch 2 without a Direct presentation, instead revealing the game’s release date and debuting a new trailer.
The Switch 2 exclusive is set to launch on July 23, 2026.
Gameplay Overview
In Splatoon Raiders, players can battle Salmonids either solo or with up to three others via local or online multiplayer. While the game supports multiplayer, it remains primarily a single-player experience.
For solo players, the Deep Cut Mechanic can be joined by Big Man, Frye, or Shiver, who assist using bots at various locations across the Spirhalite Islands.
Exploration and Progression
As players explore, they can collect Spirhalite Shards and materials to craft gadgets for fighting Salmonids and retrieving relics to sell for in-game currency.
New weapons, such as the Splatchet, can be equipped or placed in the field. Players can also upgrade these items to enhance their capabilities.
Trailer Breakdown
The newly released trailer showcases gameplay footage, beginning with the customization of the Mechanic avatar. It then highlights exploration, combat against Salmonids, boss encounters, gadget crafting, and teamwork with Deep Cut members.
The trailer concludes with the reveal of the Deep Cut amiibo, which will be available on launch day.
Deep Cut Background
The Deep Cut trio—Big Man, Frye, and Shiver—first appeared in Splatoon 3, where they served as announcers and leaders for Splatfests. Unlike previous games, Splatfests in Splatoon 3 offered three faction choices instead of two.
