Spotify has unveiled a new in-app experience, Your Party of the Year(s), to celebrate its 20-year anniversary. The interactive infographic recap walks users through highlights of their own journey on the platform, including their first-ever streamed song.
The format closely resembles Spotify Wrapped, the company’s annual year-in-review feature that debuted in 2014. Wrapped has become a cornerstone of Spotify’s business strategy, with over 300 million users engaging in 2025—a 20% increase from 2024. The campaign also generated significant organic promotion, with 630 million social media shares, up 42% year-over-year.
During a February earnings call, Spotify co-CEO Alex Norström revealed that the first day of Wrapped 2024 marked the highest single-day premium subscriber intake in the company’s history.
Your Party of the Year(s) represents Spotify’s attempt to bring the magic of Wrapped outside of its traditional December launch window. However, the company faces a challenge: balancing the integration of Wrapped’s successful elements throughout the year while preserving its unique brand identity as a once-a-year event.
What to Expect from Your Party of the Year(s)
Wrapped 2025 adopted a retro, scrapbook-inspired aesthetic in response to user feedback about its more technical, AI-driven approach in 2024. Similarly, Your Party of the Year(s) leans into an analog, handcrafted design aesthetic.
Jeremy Wirth, Spotify’s global executive creative director, explained the inspiration behind the campaign: “A lot of us behind the campaign lived the party night subculture of the early aughts. It was important to pay homage to 2006, the year Spotify was founded, so we referenced the iconography and typography of DIY party flyers. We then combined that handmade design language with the photography style that defined the indie sleaze era—high flash dance floor candids.”
The experience begins with an animation of a wax seal—featuring the Spotify logo—parting to reveal a homepage with bold, blocky text and gold stars, reminiscent of elementary school awards. Users are then guided through a nostalgic journey, starting with their first day on the app and progressing through milestones such as:
- A quiz about their first-ever streamed song
- Identification of their most-streamed artist of all time
- A personalized playlist of 120 tracks
Your Party of the Year(s) is now available to all Spotify users as part of the platform’s 20-year anniversary celebration.
