The Pittsburgh Steelers have bolstered their quarterback depth by selecting Penn State’s Drew Allar in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The Steelers used the 76th overall pick to select Allar, a selection acquired from the Dallas Cowboys in last year’s trade for wide receiver George Pickens.
Allar joins fellow quarterbacks Mason Rudolph and Will Howard in Pittsburgh’s quarterback room as the team awaits news on Aaron Rodgers’ future with the franchise.
Allar’s family holds season tickets for the Cleveland Browns, meaning they will need to switch their allegiance to the Steelers following his selection.
In the 2024 season, Allar played only six games due to a broken left ankle that required surgery. Despite the limited action, he completed 64.8% of his passes for 1,100 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions.
Over his collegiate career, Allar made 35 starts, completing 63.2% of his passes for 7,402 yards, 61 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
