An off-duty Forest Park police lieutenant allegedly pulled an 18-year-old woman from her vehicle at gunpoint without identifying himself or showing a badge, according to her account.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon in North Riverside, Illinois, when 18-year-old Breanna Pantoja was driving. Pantoja told ABC 7 Chicago that the lieutenant cut her off at a red light, exited his vehicle with a gun, and shouted,
‘Get out of the car. Get out of the car and turn it off.’
Pantoja said she initially thought she was being carjacked or robbed because she did not recognize the armed man as a police officer. ‘All I saw was a gun pointed at me,’ she stated.
She denied involvement in any hit-and-run incident, claiming she had simply lost control of her car on a wet road without causing damage or hitting anything. A nearby motorist captured part of the interaction on video, showing the officer pulling her from the vehicle.
According to Pantoja, the officer did not identify himself as law enforcement or display a badge during the encounter. She said he called officers from the North Riverside Police Department to respond, who later released her without filing any charges.
Following the incident, Forest Park officials launched an investigation but did not publicly disclose the officer’s name. The department has not yet released further details about the ongoing probe.
