New Series Premieres This Week

Half Man (HBO, Thursday, 9 p.m.)

Half Man premieres as a six-part limited series on HBO and BBC, starring Richard Gadd—the multi-hyphenate talent behind Baby Reindeer—as creator, writer, and lead actor. Gadd portrays Ruben, a fierce and volatile character opposite Jamie Bell’s Niall, a mild-mannered man reuniting with his childhood friend at a wedding after decades of separation. The series reunites two Scotsmen whose bond is tested by past turmoil. The A.V. Club will provide a recap of the series.

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 (Netflix, Thursday, 3 a.m.)

Netflix launches Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, an animated spin-off set between seasons two and three of the original series. The show revisits familiar characters—Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Will, Lucas, Max, and others—voiced by new actors. Though set in the Upside Down, the series explores the lives of Hawkins’ residents during a quieter period. The A.V. Club will review the premiere on Thursday.

Running Point (Netflix, Thursday, 3 a.m.)

Running Point returns for season two, following Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, president of the Los Angeles Waves basketball team. Isla faces financial struggles, family power plays, board scrutiny, and public pressure while leading her team toward the playoffs. New cast members include Ray Romano, Ken Marino, Robert Townsend, and Richa Moorjani.

From (MGM+, Sunday, 9 p.m.)

Season four of the sci-fi-horror series From premieres on MGM+, continuing the mystery of The Man In The Yellow Suit and its control over the Township. As residents uncover dangerous truths, they must confront the consequences of their discoveries. The season stars Harold Perrineau, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Eion Bailey, Hannah Cheramy, and Ricky He.

Criminal Record (Apple TV+, Wednesday, 12 a.m.)

Criminal Record returns for season two, with Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo reprising their roles as DCI Daniel Hegarty and DS June Lenker. The duo investigates a fatal stabbing at a political rally and works to thwart a far-right bomb plot in London.
