President Donald Trump provided one of the least reassuring responses possible regarding the spread of hantavirus during a press briefing on May 7.

Standing beside Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin, Trump fielded questions about public health concerns, including the rare but serious hantavirus.

When pressed for details on the virus and its transmission, Trump admitted his limited knowledge, stating:

‘I don’t know much about it.’

His response underscored a lack of preparedness or urgency in addressing the topic, raising questions about the administration’s stance on emerging health threats.
