Ubisoft and Unsolved Hunts Launch Real-World Treasure Hunt for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced
Ubisoft has partnered with Unsolved Hunts to celebrate the upcoming release of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced with a high-stakes real-life treasure hunt. The event, titled "Gold & Crystal: The Lost Treasure of Edward Kenway", offers participants a chance to win a $500,000 prize.
Treasure Worth $500,000 Hidden in the Caribbean
The treasure hunt spans multiple years and requires solving over a dozen riddles to locate a buried chest in the Caribbean Sea. The chest contains:
- $350,000 in gold coins
- A crystal skull with an opal valued at $150,000
The first participant to correctly identify the location will be flown to the site to excavate the treasure.
No Assassin's Creed Knowledge Required
While the hunt celebrates Black Flag Resynced, players do not need prior knowledge of the game or franchise to participate. However, those familiar with Edward Kenway and the original Assassin's Creed Black Flag will recognize thematic references throughout the experience.
How to Enter the Treasure Hunt
Participants must purchase one of seven pre-order "Packs" on the Gold & Crystal website to access the hunt. The packs include:
- Starter Pack ($35) – Access to the digital treasure hunt interface.
- Standard Pack ($60) – Includes a physical copy of the game with maps, a bottle, letters, and materials to solve the 15 riddles.
- Premium Packs ($110–$230) – Additional investigative games, real-world collectibles, and Black Flag memorabilia.
Hunt Begins November 9, 2026
The official treasure hunt launches on November 9, 2026, but pre-ordering a pack grants early access to a sneak peek and the first riddle clue. While this may provide an advantage, the riddles are designed to be challenging. The hunt is expected to last between two and five years.
