Valve has announced that reservations for the second wave of Steam Controllers will open on May 8. The company is implementing measures to prevent bots and resellers from dominating the limited stock, following criticism of the first wave’s rapid sell-out.
In the initial release, the Steam Controller sold out within minutes, with many units reportedly purchased by automated bots and resold at inflated prices. Valve has not disclosed specific changes to the reservation system but indicated that adjustments have been made to improve fairness.
Steam Controllers are designed for PC gaming, offering touch-sensitive pads, gyroscopic controls, and customizable button layouts. They are compatible with a wide range of games on the Steam platform.
The first wave of reservations opened on March 27 and sold out almost immediately. Valve has not confirmed the exact number of controllers available in the second wave, but industry analysts estimate a similar limited quantity.
Gamers interested in securing a Steam Controller are advised to prepare for the reservation opening on May 8. Valve has not yet announced whether additional waves will follow.
