Completing the story in Duck Side of the Moon requires a significant amount of Gold. This valuable resource is used to craft the Explosion Gadget, which is required for multiple quests, and to upgrade your mining tool to the second and third tiers.
Unlike other resources such as Ferrite or Groovium, which are easy to harvest, finding Gold in Duck Side of the Moon can be challenging. However, once you know where to look, you can collect enough Gold to meet all your crafting and upgrading needs.
Where to Find Gold in Duck Side of the Moon
Gold Location in the Quarry
Gold is located in the Quarry, the mining area on the second map of Duck Side of the Moon. Specifically, it appears in the tunnels where you previously ignited explosives to restore power to the town.
Look for Gold in the walls of these mine tunnels. Gold appears as rectangular bars protruding from the tunnel walls, similar to the ones shown in the image above. Once you locate a Gold node, use a charged blast from your mining tool to shoot it. The Gold will drop, and if you are nearby, it will automatically be added to your inventory.
You can typically find five to six Gold nodes in this area at once. This amount is sufficient to craft both the Explosion Gadget and the Mining Tier II upgrade at your ship's crafting station.
Benefits of Mining Tier II and the Explosion Gadget
The Mining Tier II upgrade enables you to harvest more rigid materials, such as Rubies, which are essential for crafting additional gadgets. The Explosion Gadget, as its name suggests, allows you to blow up crumbling walls to access new areas.
In the mines where Gold is found, there is a crumbling wall hiding an NPC named Hugo. If you return to the mines with an Explosion Gadget, you can destroy the wall to find Hugo and a chest containing three more Gold. This additional Gold will help you craft even more recipes.
Additional Uses for Gold
Beyond the Explosion Gadget and mining tool upgrades, Gold can also be used to craft the Scanner, a tool that helps locate hidden rewards, and to upgrade your mining tool to the third tier for harvesting even more materials.
