Kicker Younghoe Koo will attempt to earn a roster spot with the New Orleans Saints this weekend by attending the team’s rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. The Saints’ official roster for the event confirms Koo’s participation.

Koo was previously released by the Atlanta Falcons in September 2023 after missing a game-tying field goal in the final moments of a Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He later signed with the New York Giants, appearing in five games during the 2023 season.

One of Koo’s most notable moments with the Giants occurred in a Week 12 loss to the New England Patriots, when he failed to make contact on a field goal attempt. The miss, though embarrassing, led to an unexpected positive outcome for a Kentucky man who suffered a seizure while laughing at the kicker’s blunder and later discovered he had a brain tumor.

During his stint with the Giants, Koo converted 4-of-6 field goals and 11-of-12 extra points. His NFL career stats stand at 185-of-217 on field goals and 186-of-194 on extra points.

The Saints currently have Charlie Smyth as their returning kicker. Additionally, the team has signed undrafted free agent Mason Shipley.
