毎年恒例のカンヌ国際映画祭「監督ポートレート2026」が、世界各地の監督たちの写真とインタビューで構成された特別企画として公開された。
今年のポートレートでは、まずスペインの巨匠ペドロ・アルモドバルが最初に参加。続いてロシアのアンドレイ・ズビャギンツェフ、アカデミー賞受賞監督のロン・ハワードやアーサー・ハラリ、個性派のジェームズ・グレイやパヴェウ・パヴリコフスキ、話題を呼ぶクエンティン・デュピュー、そして俳優から監督に転身したジョン・トラボルタ、ディエゴ・ルナ、アンディ・ガルシアらが名を連ねた。
今年の撮影はパリを中心に行われた。これはカンヌがフランス映画を多く選出したことによるものだが、最終的に4大陸12カ国20都市でポートレート撮影が実施された。これらの写真は、常にカンヌ映画祭の核となる存在であり続けている。
