米国のバイオテックスタートアップ、ベラデルミクス社は、新規経口脱毛治療薬「VDPHL01」が後期臨床試験で有効性を示したと発表した。
同社によると、VDPHL01を1日1回または2回服用した男性被験者は、6カ月間で頭皮1平方センチメートルあたり平均30〜33本の毛髪が増加。一方、プラセボ群では約7本の増加にとどまったという。
また、VDPHL01を服用した79〜86%の被験者が改善を実感しており、72〜84%の臨床試験担当医も同様の評価を示した。この結果について、同社のCEOで皮膚科医のリード・ワルドマン氏は「非常に有望な結果」とコメントしている。
VDPHL01は、新規の作用機序を持つ経口薬として注目を集めており、今後の規制当局の承認プロセスが注目される。
