IO Interactive has released a new gameplay overview trailer, titled Rules of Spycraft, for 007 First Light, showcasing a variety of new features players can expect at launch. As the first James Bond video game in over a decade, 007 First Light blends classic franchise elements with inspiration from stealth games like Hitman.

The trailer highlights Tac Sim missions, a new mode led by Dr. Selina Tan. These missions challenge players to complete objectives under specific conditions and restrictions, testing their skills as MI6 agents. Players will face varying tiers of difficulty, each offering unique challenges and rewards. Performance in these missions will be ranked on a global leaderboard, competing against other 00 agents worldwide. While rewards for top performers remain unannounced, completing Tac Sim missions grants XP for upgrades in 007 First Light.

The premise mirrors Hitman's Escalations mode, suggesting IO Interactive may expand Tac Sim missions post-launch, following a similar roadmap.

Time-Dilation Feature: A Nostalgic Return

The trailer also showcases a time-dilation feature, a fan-favorite mechanic from past Bond games, notably the 2003 title Everything or Nothing. This feature allows players to slow down time during combat, enabling precise targeting to maximize damage. While the trailer focuses on combat applications, time dilation may also play a role in story sequences requiring dodging objects or bullets.

Post-Launch Content Confirmed

The trailer hints at substantial post-launch content for 007 First Light, set for release on May 27, 2026. While no official details were revealed, the trailer emphasized,

"At IO Interactive, the launch of a game is only the start."
Players can expect ongoing updates and new content following the initial release.
