Good Smile Company Announces Evangelion Unit-08α Moderoid Model Kit for October 2026 Release

Good Smile Company has announced the upcoming release of the Evangelion Unit-08α Moderoid model kit, a new addition to its popular Moderoid line. This kit is based on the Eva Unit-08 variant piloted by Mari Makinami Illustrious in Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, part of the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series.

Release Dates and Pricing

The Evangelion Unit-08α Moderoid will be available in Japan on October 2026 for ¥4,500. The U.S. version is scheduled for launch in Q1 2027 at a price of $26.99.

Kit Features and Specifications

The model kit stands at approximately 165mm (6.5 inches) tall when assembled. It is fully articulated, allowing for dynamic posing. The kit includes a replica of Mari’s sniper rifle, one of the weapons she uses while piloting Eva Unit-08α.

Good Smile Company has pre-painted some parts of the kit and included customization stickers, reducing the need for additional painting. However, tools such as a pair of nippers are recommended for assembly.

Evangelion Unit-08α is one of three distinct versions of Eva Unit-08 featured in the four-part Rebuild of Evangelion movie series. This variant is specifically associated with Mari Makinami Illustrious, a key pilot in the franchise.
