This 2010 Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SV could sell for up to $4 million at auction this weekend. When new, the SV’s UK pricing started at just over $450,000.
Only four examples in North America feature Nero Aldebaran paint, including this one. Despite depreciation typically moving in one direction, the Murcielago SV has bucked the trend.
From Swansong to Six-Figure Status
Launched in 2010, the Murcielago SV served as the final iteration of the nameplate before Lamborghini transitioned to the Aventador. Sixteen years later, it has become a multi-million-dollar collector’s piece.
Rarity Drives Value
Unlike other rare Lamborghini models such as the Sian FKP 37 and Countach LPI 800-4, which often trade below MSRP, the Murcielago SV has appreciated significantly. New, it retailed for around $450,000, but this weekend’s low-mileage example is expected to fetch between $3.7 million and $4 million.
If the estimate holds, this will rank among the most expensive Murcielago SVs ever sold. Higher-mileage models typically trade near $1 million, but this Mecum Auctions offering has just 693 miles (1,115 km) since new.
A V12 Icon with a Checkered Past
This SV has changed hands multiple times in recent years. In 2022, Mecum offered it at its Monterey auction with 617 miles (993 km) on the odometer. Bidding reached $1 million, but the car failed to sell. Late last year, it was listed and sold by Fort Lauderdale Collection South for an undisclosed sum.
Production Numbers and Paint Scheme
Lamborghini planned to build 350 units of the SV but cut production short to prioritize the Aventador. While some sources claim 186 were made, estimates suggest closer to 300 were produced. Of these, only four in North America are painted in Nero Aldebaran.
The car’s black paint contrasts with yellow brake calipers and large yellow SV logos on the sides. Like most Murcielago SVs, this example pairs its 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 with the e-gear transmission and all-wheel drive.
Mecum Auctions will confirm this weekend whether the market validates its $3.7 to $4 million estimate. View the full listing here.
