A 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 restomod, engineered for drag strip supremacy, is heading to auction at Mecum Auctions this September.

The car is powered by a massive 572-cubic-inch (9.0-liter) Boss 9 V8 engine sourced from Jon Kaase Racing. While exact power figures remain undisclosed, these engines are capable of producing up to 848 horsepower and 766 lb-ft (1,038 Nm) of torque.

The Fairlane’s drivetrain includes a Hughes Performance automatic transmission and a Ford 9-inch rear end, optimized for traction with 20-inch wheels and oversized tires.

Custom Chassis and Suspension for Drag Racing

The restomod rides on a custom chassis from Fincher Fab, paired with a four-link suspension to keep the rear end planted during launches. Additional performance upgrades include:

  • Koni adjustable shocks at all four corners
  • 3-inch coated exhaust system for improved flow
  • Wilwood four-piston calipers clamping onto 13-inch discs

Aggressive Styling and Interior Upgrades

The Fairlane’s exterior has been significantly modified to accommodate its high-performance hardware. A pronounced hood bulge accommodates the massive V8, while matte-silver bumpers and modern front and rear lights enhance its aggressive stance.

Inside, the cabin features a full roll cage for safety, along with red leather upholstery covering the seats, door panels, and transmission tunnel. The original gauges have been replaced with a digital display for a modern touch.

For enthusiasts seeking a drag-prepped classic, this Fairlane restomod offers a blend of vintage aesthetics and cutting-edge performance. Visit the Mecum Auctions listing for full details.
