Amazon MGM Studios is restructuring its business affairs team into three dedicated units aligned with its Film, TV, and International Originals divisions.

In a memo sent to staff on Tuesday, Courtenay Valenti (Head of Film), Peter Friedlander (Head of Global Television), and Nicole Clemens (Head of International Originals) announced the change:

"In line with the moves we’ve made over the past year to create three distinct studio operations, we will no longer operate with a centralized studios BA team, and instead move forward with three teams, each embedded within our Film, TV and International Originals studios, respectively."

The memo added:

"The three of us are confident it will streamline our dealmaking, reduce some layers, and more closely align our BA teams with the divisions they serve."

As part of the restructuring, Dan Scharf, who has led the centralized business affairs team since joining Amazon in 2014, is leaving the company. The memo described Scharf as a "foundational member" of the leadership team, noting his role in growing the group from 40 team members on his first day in Sherman Oaks to overseeing numerous talent and content deals.
