AMC Networks has expanded its television slate with multiple high-profile projects, including a new Point Break series and a NASCAR drama starring Dennis Quaid.
Point Break Series: A New Heist Crew Emerges
The Point Break series will pick up 25 years after the original 1991 film, focusing on a new dangerous heist crew with ties to the notorious Ex-Presidents gang. The project is executive produced and written by Dave Kalstein (Treadstone, Quantico), in collaboration with Alcon Entertainment, the studio behind the original movie.
NASCAR Drama 'Thunder Road' Stars Dennis Quaid
The NASCAR series Thunder Road, developed by AMC Studios and NASCAR Studios, will feature Dennis Quaid as racing legend Duane Whitlock. The multi-generational saga explores the fictional Whitlock family’s legacy in stock car racing, deeply rooted in the southern hill country. The series is created and executive produced by John Fusco (Young Guns, The Highwaymen), with Taylor Elmore (Justified, Tulsa King) serving as showrunner and executive producer.
New Drama Series 'Yaga' Joins AMC+ Slate
Crave drama series Yaga will stream exclusively in the U.S. on AMC+. The eight-episode half-hour drama marks Hudson Williams’ first major role following Heated Rivalry. The cast includes Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek), and Clark Backo (Letterkenny). The series is set to debut on AMC+ later in 2025.
Spy Series 'Bannerman' Based on John Maxim’s Novels
AMC Studios is developing Bannerman, a new spy series based on the novels by John Maxim. A writers’ room has been assembled, with Craig Silverstein (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) attached as creator and showrunner. Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) will direct and executive produce the series.
John Steinbeck’s 'The Grapes of Wrath' Anthology Series
Following the announcement of an anthology franchise centered on great American stories, AMC revealed that Rolin Jones and Brett C. Leonard (Fear the Walking Dead) are co-writing the first season of The Grapes of Wrath. The series will be produced in close collaboration with Mark Johnson, who will oversee the entire franchise. Production is expected to begin by the end of 2025, with a premiere slated for 2027.
Sports Docuseries 'Rise of the Saints' Greenlit for 2027
AMC has greenlit another installment of its Rise sports docuseries, titled Rise of the Saints. Produced by AMC Studios and Skydance Sports, alongside NFL Films and Eli Manning’s Ten Till Productions, the three-episode series will premiere on AMC+ and AMC in February 2027, ahead of the Super Bowl.
Live Concert Event for 'The Vampire Lestat'
In anticipation of the debut of The Vampire Lestat, AMC announced a live concert event, The Vampire Lestat: One Night Only – Live, at New York City’s Beacon Theatre on June 2, 2025. The event will feature Sam Reid as Lestat, performing original music composed by Daniel Hart before a screening of the premiere episode. Complimentary tickets will be available starting Wednesday, May 6, 2025, at 12 a.m. ET.
