Tracey Matthews, a teacher at Wonder Junior High School in West Memphis, Arkansas, was charged with aggravated assault after choking a student during a dispute over the slang term "bruh."
The confrontation began when Matthews asked the student if he had a computer. The student replied, "Bruh, I don't have a computer."
Matthews responded, "I'm not your bruh, I'm your sir." The student then said, "My bad, lil bruh."
According to police reports, Matthews then grabbed the student by the shirt and slammed him against a desk. After leaving the classroom, Matthews followed the student into the hallway, where he slammed him into a wall and choked him.
The student reported the incident to the principal, who reviewed security footage before alerting law enforcement. The video evidence was used to support the charges against Matthews.
