Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II previously stated he anticipated learning quarterback Aaron Rodgers's intentions for the 2026 NFL season by the NFL Draft. However, recent updates from the team suggest the timeline may extend beyond initial expectations.

On Tuesday, Rooney addressed the status of Rodgers' decision-making process during an appearance on WDVE. He confirmed that Rodgers has not yet informed the organization of his final choice regarding the upcoming season. While Rooney declined to specify an exact date, he noted that the team expects greater clarity by the start of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) on May 18.

“I wish I could tell you we’re at the end of the discussion, but we’re still talking to Aaron and he’s still deciding what he wants to do. I think we’re close. He’s kind of told us his time frame and what he’s going to be up to over the next couple of weeks. I think we’ll have an answer soon, let’s put it that way.”

Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy also weighed in on Tuesday, expressing confidence in Rodgers' readiness if he ultimately decides to play in 2026. Until a decision is made, the team will proceed with quarterbacks Will Howard and Mason Rudolph during offseason workouts.
