The Buffalo Bills have officially signed fullback Ben VanSumeren to a one-year contract, the team announced on Wednesday.

VanSumeren, who will turn 26 next week, played only a single snap for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2025. During the opening kickoff of Week 1, he suffered a torn patellar tendon in his left knee, ending his season prematurely.

Undrafted in 2023, VanSumeren has appeared in 21 career games across two seasons. As a rookie in 2023, he played in nine games, followed by 11 appearances in 2024. His role expanded in 2024 when he transitioned to fullback, though his season was cut short by a knee injury sustained during a late November practice.

By 2025, VanSumeren had fully transitioned to the fullback position. Over his career, he has logged:

  • 22 offensive snaps
  • 50 defensive snaps
  • 394 special teams snaps

In total, VanSumeren has recorded one reception for no yards and 16 tackles during his NFL tenure.
