Burger King is joining forces with Star Wars to introduce a limited-time menu, bringing the galaxy far, far away to its U.S. restaurants. The promotion officially kicks off on May 4—celebrated annually as Star Wars Day—at participating locations nationwide.

The collaboration coincides with the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, which hits theaters on May 22.

"Star Wars has shaped generations of fans, and as we head into the release of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, we saw an opportunity to bring that excitement straight into our restaurants."

Joel Yashinsky, Chief Marketing Officer of Burger King U.S. and Canada, shared this sentiment in a recent press statement.

Themed Packaging and Collectibles

The promotion features a lineup of exclusive themed packaging, including:

  • Four collectible themed cups
  • A Mandalorian helmet-shaped carton
  • A Grogu-themed carton
  • An Imperial-themed carton

Additionally, Burger King’s iconic crown logo has been reimagined to incorporate the Mandalorian’s helmet design.

Limited-Time Menu Items

The Star Wars-themed menu includes the following items:

  • BBQ Bounty Whopper: A quarter-pound patty topped with Swiss cheese, pickle chips, and BBQ sauce
  • Blue Cookie Shake: Soft serve blended with blue cookie syrup
  • Garlic Chicken Fries: White-meat chicken fries seasoned with garlic and Parmesan cheese, served with garlic sauce
  • Imperial-themed Cheddar Ranch Tots: Cheese and potato-stuffed bites paired with ranch seasoning

Kids Menu and Toy

Starting April 28, a Mandalorian-themed kids menu will be available, featuring:

  • A choice between a hamburger or nuggets
  • Apple sauce or kid-sized fries
  • Milk or apple juice
  • A Mandalorian-themed toy

Industry Trend: Fast Food Collaborations

Burger King is not the first major fast-food chain to leverage popular franchises for cultural relevance. Recent examples include:

  • McDonald’s: Released a K-Pop Demon Hunters-themed menu last month
  • KFC: Launched a Squid Game-inspired collaboration in Europe, featuring a viral pink burger bun
  • Wendy’s: Rolled out a Wednesday-themed menu and packaging inspired by the Netflix hit
  • Popeyes: Partnered with the anime One Piece for a co-branded meal

These collaborations reflect a growing trend among brands to tap into the influence of fan-favorite franchises, aiming to cross-pollinate audiences and revitalize interest in legacy products.

"It’s less about getting audiences to try the collaboration, and more about reminding them to reach for the original thing."

Grace Murray Vazquez, Executive Vice President of Strategy at influencer marketing company Fohr, made this observation in a statement to Fast Company last year.
