The Cannes Film Festival has expanded its 2026 lineup with 16 new films, organizers announced on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The additions include major titles across multiple sections, signaling a diverse and competitive slate for next year’s festival.
New Additions to the Main Competition
James Gray’s “Paper Tiger” is the sole addition to the Main Competition, marking the second American film in the 22-film section. The first was Ira Sachs’ “The Man I Love”. Gray’s film was recently acquired for distribution by Neon, which now holds four films in the competition.
Neon’s strong presence in the Main Competition raises the stakes for the Palme d’Or, following its unprecedented sixth consecutive win with films like “Parasite,” “Titane,” “Triangle of Sadness,” “Anatomy of a Fall,” “Anora,” and “It Was Just an Accident.”
Un Certain Regard and Other Sections
Several of the new additions will premiere in the Un Certain Regard section, including:
- “Victorian Psycho” by Zachary Wigon
- “A Girl’s Story” by Judith Godreche
- “Titanic Ocean” by Konstantina Kotzamani
