Canon has announced the EOS R6 V, a new mirrorless camera designed primarily for video capture. Like the EOS R50 V, the R6 V features a simplified front branding with only "R V" visible, while its full name is printed on the top deck.
The EOS R6 V is a 32.5-megapixel full-frame camera capable of recording 7K RAW footage. It is the first full-frame EOS camera to carry the "V" moniker, indicating its video-focused design. The camera is based on the EOS R6 Mark III but omits certain features, such as a viewfinder and a mechanical shutter, to achieve a more compact size. It also includes an active cooling system with a fan for sustained performance.
The R6 V is priced at $2,499 for the body only, which is $300 less than the R6 Mark III. It is set to launch at the end of June.
The camera's full-frame sensor is claimed to offer over 15 stops of dynamic range, enabling high-quality video recording. It can capture 7K RAW footage or oversampled 4K video, delivering exceptional detail and clarity.
