Chinese consumer electronics firm Dreame, known for its vacuum cleaners, has made a bold entry into the automotive industry with a new crossover-sedan concept under its Star Motor sub-brand. The fully electric model, unveiled at the recent Beijing Auto Show, may appear in a more production-ready form at the Chengdu Auto Show in September.

The concept vehicle features a massive front grille, despite being fully electric, along with wide air intakes and sharp LED headlights. Its most distinctive design element is the Rolls-Royce-style suicide doors—a pillarless layout that eliminates the traditional B-pillar, creating an uninterrupted opening when both doors swing open.

Star Motor’s Automotive Ambitions

Dreame, which was relatively unknown in the West just months ago, has rapidly expanded into the automotive sector by launching three new car brands: Nebula Next, Kosmera, and Star Motor. Each brand has introduced its own line of concept vehicles.

Star Motor debuted earlier this year with the T08 and T08L, boxy off-roaders resembling Dongfeng’s M817 and M917. The brand also showcased the D09, a luxury SUV heavily inspired by the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

Design Inspirations and Production Uncertainty

The new sedan concept appears to draw inspiration from high-end supercars, with Dreame describing it as a fusion of the Bugatti Chiron and Ferrari Purosangue. The front grille design echoes the Kosmera concept presented at CES 2024, though scaled up and more aggressive. The rear features a C-shaped element around the windows and doors, reminiscent of Bugatti’s signature C-line.

While the concept has generated significant attention, it remains unclear whether any of Star Motor’s designs will reach production. To date, the brand has only unveiled show cars and renderings.

Recent spy shots have revealed that the upcoming Genesis GV90 will also adopt a pillarless layout, similar to Dreame’s concept.
