Fans have eagerly anticipated Cassie and Nate’s wedding since photos of Sydney Sweeney wearing a wedding dress leaked during production. Cassie’s ultimatum for $50,000 worth of flowers—more than delivered by the production team—set the stage for the chaotic yet visually stunning event in Episode 3.
Cast Reunion and Emotional Behind-the-Scenes Moments
Episode 3 marks one of the first times this season that the main cast appears together, given their largely separate storylines. Sam Levinson, creator of Euphoria, shared his thoughts with TheWrap:
“It was beautiful. I mean, the wedding was a blast to shoot. It’s also fairly complicated because we had so many cast members on set, but we were able to shoot it in order for the most part.”
Levinson praised Jacob Elordi and Sweeney for their performances, noting they balanced humor and anxiety throughout the event, which he described as “equal parts hilarious and also tragic.”
The wedding also featured the return of Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs, who reunited with Hunter Schafer’s Jules. Dane filmed his scenes following his ALS diagnosis but passed away in February, prior to the Season 3 premiere. Levinson reflected on Dane’s dedication:
“Eric was struggling at the time, but he showed up with such grace and dignity, and he was just such a professional, and we had so much fun working on those scenes and he’s just brilliant in this season. I loved him. I miss him … I’ve got nothing but beautiful memories of that man.”
Production Design: A Metaphor for ‘American Delusion’
François Audouy, production designer for Euphoria, crafted the wedding as a lavish spectacle to symbolize “American delusion” and the emphasis on outward appearances. He explained to TheWrap:
“It’s the idea that if the exterior is beautiful enough, the interior rot doesn’t matter.”
Audouy noted that Cassie’s request for $50,000 worth of flowers—despite Nate’s financial struggles—highlighted the “hollowness” in their relationship. He aimed to create a venue that felt “beautiful and seductive” but avoided looking cheap or wrong to preserve the metaphor.
“I wanted to create a space that felt like a tragedy that was living inside perfection.”
Color Scheme and Creative Inspiration
Like most weddings, color coordination was a priority. Audouy evolved Nate and Cassie’s palette for Season 3, incorporating blushes, pinks, and creams. For the wedding, he intensified the colors, even drawing inspiration from the tackiness of pinks in a shrimp cocktail.
“I literally became so obsessive that I color sampled shrimp. But it echoes sort of the ludicrous concept behind this over-the-top wedding to obsess about color in that way.”
Audouy lined the walls with a yellow-orange caramel color, which
