Final Fantasy XIV Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida revealed at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2026 in Anaheim, California, that same-region player matching will arrive as part of the 7.5X patch series. This feature will be available to all players before the Evercold 8.0 expansion, scheduled for January 2027.

Yoshida explained that the change aims to address the stress caused by the Data Center travel system, particularly for players seeking Raid-focused worlds. With same-region matching, users can participate in player matching from all worlds within a single region, including the Party Finder feature.

The initial test for this feature will be exclusive to the Japanese version of the game. While specific dates have not been announced, Yoshida confirmed that successful testing in Japan will lead to its deployment in the United States, Europe, and China. The goal is to ensure the feature is fully operational worldwide before the 8.0 expansion.

Final Fantasy XIV is playable on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The same-region player matching feature will debut in the 7.5X patch series, with the Evercold 8.0 expansion launching in January 2027.
