Final Fantasy XIV Evercold Expansion Announces Two New Jobs

During the Final Fantasy XIV 2026 Anaheim Fan Festival, Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida revealed that the upcoming Evercold expansion will introduce two new jobs—one a DPS and the other a Tank. While Yoshida did not disclose their identities, he confirmed they are entirely new classes, original to FFXIV, and not based on past Final Fantasy titles. The DPS role will feature a physical ranged attacker.

One of the new jobs will be unveiled at the Berlin Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in July 2026.

Major Job Action System Overhaul: Reborn and Evolved Modes

Yoshida also announced a significant update to the job action system, introducing Reborn and Evolved modes for 21 legacy jobs prior to version 8.0. These modes can be swapped between when out of combat. Key details include:

  • Reborn Mode: Based on current job actions and rotations.
  • Evolved Mode: Features fewer inputs and new rotations.
  • Shared Progression: Job levels and equipment progress are shared between both modes.

Yoshida noted that while Evolved Mode may be slightly more powerful, both modes will be balanced, compatible with all fights, and fully supported. Limited jobs such as Blue Mage and Beastmaster will not receive these modes.

Other Key Updates in FFXIV Evercold

The expansion will also raise the general level cap from 100 to 110. Additionally, the Switch 2 version of FFXIV is confirmed to launch in August 2026, while the Evercold expansion debuts in January 2027.
