Framework is known for refining its laptop designs with each new release, and the latest updates to the Framework Laptop 16 follow this trend. While these changes aren’t as extensive as those introduced for the Framework Laptop 13 Pro, they directly address user complaints and requests, improving both the look and functionality of the upgradeable workstation.

New CPU Option and Price Adjustments

The Laptop 16 now offers a new CPU configuration: the six-core Ryzen AI 5 340, part of the same Ryzen AI 300 chip family used in Framework’s late-2025 refresh. This option sits below the eight-core Ryzen AI 7 350 configuration and brings the starting price down significantly:

  • Pre-built system: $1,599 (down from $1,799)
  • DIY Edition: $1,249 (down from $1,499)

Note: Future increases in RAM or storage costs could offset these savings, but the current pricing is available now.

Cosmetic Upgrades Enhance Aesthetics

In addition to performance and pricing improvements, Framework has introduced a new cosmetic option for the Laptop 16: the Translucent Smoke Gray Bezel. This joins the existing color choices, which include:

  • Black
  • Orange
  • Lavender

The new bezel option provides users with an additional way to personalize their device while maintaining the sleek, modern look Framework is known for.

Addressing User Feedback

These updates reflect Framework’s commitment to listening to its community. By introducing a more affordable CPU option and refining the design, the company aims to make the Laptop 16 more accessible and visually appealing without compromising its core strengths—upgradeability and performance.
